How to become a resident of Newford

Here are the steps that need to be followed to join the Newford Ring. There are 3 options... you can use the SSNB that webring will give you, you can use the HTML below or you can edit the HTML to your liking.

  1. Go to webring and join; add the SSNB to your page and as soon as webring sees it as PASS, I'll add you.
  2. HTML method using My HTML
    1. Go to webring and join;
    2. Save copies of the ring graphics you see below or make your own, maybe even borrow one of the other excellently created images on other ringmember's site's, but remember to ask permission! You may link through my page, but it'll make for longer load-time.
    3. Add the following HTML fragment to your homepage.
      The Newford Ring Homepage
      This Newford Ring Site belongs to
      Next Newford RingSite
      YOUR NAME
      Add Your Site To
      The Newford Ring.
      [ Next | Prev | Next5 | Random ]
    4. Change the e-mail address and name so that they are your own.
    5. Make sure the fragment points to images on your own site. The Newford Ring link, however, should still point to http://ofearna.us/books/delint/newford.html
    6. Fill out the below form to register your site, then write down the Site ID number you are assigned. This will put your page in the Newford Ring 'Queue', where it will remain until someone adds you to the ring. This does not insert you in the ring; the actual insertion is done later.
    7. Change the four references which read
      http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=newford&id=-id#-&...
      so that the id#= is followed by your Site ID number. For example, if your site ID is 123, the href should be something like
      http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=newford&id=123&next
    8. E-mail the owner of an existing Newford Ring site and ask them to add you to the ring. Be sure to include your Site ID Number in the e-mail message. They will hopefully make sure the Newford Ring HTML fragment on your page is okay. I regularly check the queue sites and even the ring sites to make sure the ring isn't a dead-end anywhere and no ring-ready sites are in the queue!
    9. After checking out your page, the existing Newford Ring site's owner will take your Site ID Number and use it to add you to the ring. You should then receive an e-mail telling you you've been added.
  3. Create your own HTML and add it to the page...
    1. Go to webring and join;
    2. Create your own HTML and add to the site

      I'll add you as soon as webring gives you a PASS.

  • That's it! You should now be able to navigate the entire ring until to make it back to your own page (although it may take a while).
